Veteran news anchor Jessica Soho was seen wiping away tears after the screening, commending the film’s ability to touch the heart and soul.
“The story is simple but powerful. The storytelling is beautiful. It can go a long way. The lesson for me is the power of the dream and the power of the story. And there has to be a light at the end of the tunnel…It’s such a beautiful film for such a simple but powerful story.”
Kara David, journalist
Renowned broadcast journalist Kara David echoed the sentiment, praising “Firefly” for its “beautiful story and powerful performances.”
“I cried seven times. The film is really great. It’s just amazing. Good storytelling. Good script. Good acting. Great experience.”

“It’s great to have this kind of presence in the MMFF. It’s delightful because it’s perfect for Christmas. And it’s a story about our love for our mothers and how we create our own stories. It’s created for both children and adults.”
Love Añover, reporter
“You can be proud that there is a film like this that Filipino viewers can watch. It’s a high-quality film that you know many people can relate to because you would think the story revolves around just one protagonist, but no, there are a lot of twists.”
Zig Dulay, director of Firefly
“It’s delightful because the feeling we had since we started making the film, it transcended into the film. As a filmmaker, as a director, it’s a great feeling to be able to convey the emotions you want the audience to feel.”
Firefly is more than just a Christmas movie, it’s a testament to the power of storytelling to move and inspire people who will watch the film.
The film boasts a powerhouse cast, including Alessandra de Rossi, Euwenn Mikaell, Ysabel Ortega, Miguel Tanfelix, Epy Quizon, and Cherry Pie Picache. Their performances have garnered widespread acclaim, with Dingdong Dantes, who makes a special appearance.
