BOC intercepts smuggled Porsche cars worth P30m

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) intercepted two smuggled luxury vehicles worth P30 million  at the Mindanao Container Terminal in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental.

Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio said the shipment which came from Korea and was declared as used truck spare parts consigned to M. Aguila Car Trading.

Declared as 1,045 pieces of truck replacement parts,  BOC operatives found the shipment to contain two units of Porsche with an estimated value of P30 million.

The customs chief said the bureau received derogatory information that a shipment containing luxury cars will be shipped at the Port of Cagayan de Oro.

The BOC issued an alert order for a full examination of the container, leading to the discovery of the smuggled luxury vehicles.

A warrant of seizure and detention will be issued against the shipment for violation of Section 1400 in relation to Section 1113 of RA 10863, also known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.

“Our ports are steadfast in protecting our borders to ensure that goods are thoroughly inspected, preventing illicit cargo entry.  The Port of Cagayan de Oro aligns its mission with the 5-point priority program of the BOC to combat smuggling in all its forms,” the BOC said.
