Januarius Private Equity-1’s quest for maiden title continues

Baguio —Januarius Private Equity-1 continues its quest for a maiden title in the Fil-Championship division of the 73rd Januarius Fil-Am Men’s Invitational as action in the next two days will be at the Camp John Hay Golf Club.

The Januarius Private Equity-1 crew of Ayon Sanchez, Jet Mathay, Kirby Lachica, Terence Macatangay and Ray Sangil are in command with 250 points. Eastridge-1 has 244 and trails by six while Manila Southwoods-1 is a shot back at 243.

Scores are expected to be high at CJH despite its length and the more experienced players of Januarius Private Equity-1 are ready to battle against the youthful squads of Eastridge-1 and Manila Southwoods-1.

“The team is raring to go. The guys are looking forward to a great round at CJH,” said Januarius team manager Paolo Cagalingan.

Eastridge-2 leads in the Am-Championship after finishing with 281.

Januarius-2 and Manila Southwoods-2 are locked in for second with 252.

However, no lead is ever safe at the Baguio Country Club, which has been tough even to the best golfers through the years.

Meanwhile, Camp John Hay and Baguio Country Club are expected to engage in a friendly but intense battle for the Fil-B crown after both teams finished tied for the lead with 292 points after three rounds on Friday.

Ranz Louie Balay-Odao led the scoring for CJH (111) with 33 points despite a wobble start. Bayani Tecson also had a great game with 31 while Melchor Rabanes and Monet added 24 and 23, respectively.

BCC (105), on the other hand, was paced by Ryan Samonte’s 35. He got ample help from teammates Jeff Razon (25), Philex Mining president Euls Austin (24) and Jose Razon (22).

APO Golfers Team Omega and Mabalacat City Golfers will dispute the title in Am-B as the former has a total of 311 (98-115-98) while the latter holds a tally of 302 (100-117-85).
