DHSUD extends aid earthquake victims

Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar of the of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) has directed regional offices to expedite the provision of financial aid
for families affected by the magnitude 6.8 earthquake in Mindanao.

Undersecretary for Disaster Response Randy Escolango said the agency’s regional directors have immediately activated the regional shelter clusters to extend help to the victims and provide shelter-grade tarpaulins.

Acuzar instructed the regional directors to closely coordinate with the concerned local government units and facilitate the immediate release of financial assistance for families with totally destroyed houses.

Under DHSUD’s rental subsidy and financial assistance program, families with totally damaged homes may receive up to P10,000 in cash aid.
