Food assistance

Following the end of a pandemic food assistance benefit, over 1.7 million New York City residents currently rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), also known as food stamps. With the number of those in need of food assistance growing, the Salvation Army reported that they’ve served 53 percent more meals to New Yorkers in the first nine months of 2023.
