Pangasinan debuts world-class artistry at Manila FAME

Pangasinan is poised to showcase its artisanal treasures on the global stage, marking a 40-year anticipation, commencing with its debut at Manila FAME.

Through the ABOUND project, the province has selected 10 exceptional Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) embodying “Made in Pangasinan” creativity, with the aim of nurturing and mentoring these artisans.

With the unwavering support of Governor Ramon V. Guico III, key figures from Binalonan and Bolinao, and local agencies, Governor Mon Mon proudly introduced these 10 MSMEs during the project’s recent launch. Each of these enterprises has been carefully chosen for their export-quality craftsmanship, ranging from high-end fashion pieces to tropical-inspired home decor and innovative products celebrating Pangasinan’s agricultural richness and cultural heritage.

Pangasinan’s participation at the Manila FAME aims to highlight its artisanal treasures on the global stage

The Manila FAME trade show, the Philippines’ premier exhibition of creativity and craftsmanship, is returning to its physical form after a three-year hiatus, scheduled for October 19 to 21 at the World Trade Center. This marks the first time in 40 years that Pangasinan will participate in the event.

Governor Guico emphasizes that showcasing the province’s diverse creative industries at events like Manila FAME is integral to Pangasinan’s economic growth endeavors. MSMEs are pivotal in promoting inclusive economic development, facilitating trade and exports. He believes that the participating MSMEs will embody the essence of “Pangasinan, Ang Galing.”

The ABOUND project has worked closely with artisans like Herwin Buccat, known as Herwitanyo, who transformed his surreal and nature-inspired artwork into various merchandise. Blades, a sword producer from Pozorrubio, has diversified into crafting chef knives and fashion accessories, while Erastus, a furniture maker from Sto. Tomas, has adopted sleek, modern designs with the project’s assistance.

MSMEs such as ILO, WELAB, Alma, Rach, Cawayan, and Joy have seen their products evolve from traditional to luxury market offerings through the ABOUND project’s guidance. The youngest among them, B6, has grown under Mayor  Ramon Ronald V. Guico IV’s guidance, producing seven collections of espadrilles for domestic and international markets.

Pangasinan’s participation in Manila FAME was made possible with the assistance of the Artisan Empowerment Association (AEA), championed by  Arlyn Guico  and  Rosemarie Oamil. The AEA equips aspiring designers and entrepreneurs with mentorship, training programs, and resources to expand their market reach and improve their livelihoods.

Arlyn envisions assisting Pangasinan artisans in achieving their full potential through quality assurance and business development, while Rosemarie is committed to realizing a prosperous Pangasinan through this endeavor.
