The local government of Samal, Bataan has initiated a low-cost housing project to benefit poor families mostly from the fishing sector.
Municipal Administrator Jay Lat said the housing project is expected to provide decent houses to poor fishing residents of Barangay Tabing-Ilog and nearby areas.
Lat said 200 housing units will be built on a one-hectare area in Tabing-Ilog. He said beneficiaries can own a housing unit through the Pag-IBIG Fund with a monthly amortization of P2,500 for 25 years.
He said the Samal LGU conducted a survey and used the data from the government’s Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) to identify beneficiaries.
Governor Joet Garcia earlier commended Samal Mayor Alex Acuzar for conducting the “most efficient CBMS survey and data collection in the province.”
“Mayor Acuzar wants decent houses for our poor constituents,” Lat said, adding that the development of the housing site has already started.
