NHA-TESDA accord on livelihood inked

The National Housing Authority (NHA) has signed into a memorandum of agreement with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority as a commitment to ensuring the availability of livelihood and employment opportunities of housing beneficiaries.

As part of the NHA’s 48th anniversary celebration, the ceremonial signing was attended by NHA assistant general manager Alvin Feliciano, representing general manager Joeben Tai, while TESDA Secretary Suharto Mangundadatu was represented by deputy director general for operations Aniceto Bertiz III.

The agreement highlighted the strengthened tie-up of the two agencies in identifying and providing appropriate training programs and other interventions that would enhance employability and entrepreneurship qualities of livelihood beneficiaries.

Under Republic Act 7279 or the Urban Development and Housing Act of 1992, the Authority continuously conducts livelihood programs and skills enhancement opportunities to support, sustain and aid families’ socio- economic status within the resettlement site.

TESDA is currently implementing the Technical Vocational Education and Training program to provide technical training on technology and related sciences and practical skills acquisition.

The NHA and TESDA have strengthened their synergy in bringing government service closer to the beneficiaries.
