The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is fast-tracking the improvement of the P71-million Davao City-Junction Digos City Section of the Davao-Cotabato Road.
Public Works Secretary Manuel Bonoan said the asphalt overlaying is being carried out by the DPWH Davao City Second District Engineering Office (DEO) over 9.41 lane kilometers of the road in Toril District, Davao City.
The accomplishment was 28.33 percent higher than the 62.25-percent target, with the project slated for completion by next month, according to DPWH Regional Office 11 OIC-Director Juby B. Cordon.
Meanwhile, the DPWH has completed the P48.2-million road maintenance along 6.76 lane kilometers of Davao-Cotabato Old Road also in Toril District in Davao City, he said.
“With these road improvements, we aim to prolong the service life of existing pavement to facilitate more convenient and more efficient commute and transport of goods and services in the Davao Region,” Cordon added.
