Pagasa: LPA is now ‘Goring’

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said a low pressure area (LPA) spotted east of Aparri, Cagayan has developed into a tropical depression and has been named “Goring.” In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin Thursday, Pagasa said the center of the tropical depression was estimated at 400 kilometers east northeast of Aparri, with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

No storm signal is hoisted at this time, Pagasa said, adding that Goring will bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms in Cagayan Valley and the Cordillera Administrative Region.

The Visayas, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, the Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and BARMM will also have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms caused by the southwest monsoon or habagat.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms caused by the southwest monsoon and localized thunderstorms are expected in Metro Manila and the rest of the country, Pagasa said.
