‘Dirty Linen’ cast reflects on series’ conclusion

As the series draws to a close, the cast of Dirty Linen is immersed in a blend of emotions that treads the line between nostalgia and anticipation. With the final act approaching for this Kapamilya revenge drama, which has amassed an astonishing 2.5 billion online views since its inception in January, the actors’ feelings mirror the intricate layers of the story they’ve portrayed.

In an exclusive interview with Manila Standard Entertainment, lead actors Janine Gutierrez, Zanjoe Marudo, Tessie Tomas, Francine Diaz, and Seth Fedelin delve into their thoughts as the drama nears its finale. Their sentiments are as complex as the plot they’ve brought to life.

Tessie, who plays Doña Cielo Flores-Fiero, expressed her feelings of sadness. She said, “More than anything else, I feel sad because I have to bid farewell to this character. She’s the most disliked and controversial, but portraying Doña Cielo has pushed me to a higher level of acting and has influenced the way I portray the role. I’m overall saddened to say goodbye to my teammates, my fellow actors.”

Zanjoe, who portrays Aidan Fiero, also shares a sense of sadness. He mentioned, “There are projects that you wish could be longer or shorter, and this is one of the projects that’s been tough to let go of. I’m happy and proud of how my character has progressed alongside the other characters in this series. It feels incredible that the viewers have stuck with us since day one. All the exhaustion and challenges during filming, including those faced by the production team, seem to have paid off.”

Janine is feeling sentimental. She explained, “Saying goodbye to a character is quite difficult. When you work on a series, especially at the beginning, it’s hard to find your footing, and you’re still trying to figure things out. But as the series ends, just when the work becomes easier, that’s where saying goodbye becomes tough.”

Francine finds the experience bittersweet. She shared, “It’s not the kind of farewell that leaves you regretful; instead, you’re just grateful that this chapter was a part of your life. As a person and as an actress, it’s difficult to accept that you won’t be seeing your colleagues anymore. Since the show is still airing, it’s like they’re still with me. Overall, I’m just so happy that I had the opportunity to work with them.”

Seth, reflecting on his role in Dirty Linen, believes it left a lasting impact on him. He said, “It truly left a mark. I genuinely enjoyed being with my co-actors. We were like a family here; whenever there were difficult scenes, they supported me. I learned a lot from them, and these experiences will be carried forward into my upcoming projects.”
