The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested a high-ranking leader of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) in Isabela.
In a statement Wednesday, CIDG director Police MGen. Romeo Caramat Jr. said the suspect Romeo Cudal, 66, alias “Ramon Daniel Luis /Ka Mon/Ka Paoy/Ka Nick/Ka Rito/Ka Noni,” was arrested in Barangay Andres Bonifacio, Diffun, Quirino province on July 16.
Cudal is wanted by the Ilagan City, Isabela Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 18 for kidnapping and serious illegal detention charges issued in March 2018.
The suspect has also a bounty of PHP750,000 under joint orders from the Department of the Interior and Local Government and the Department of National Defense.
“The accused Cudal is included in the CIDG’s priority target list as Top 4 wanted person who belongs to the CPP-NPA’s Komiteng Probinsiya Isabela (Isabela Provincial Committee), Komiteng Rehiyon Cagayan Valley(Cagayan Valley Regional Committee) and Top 10 in KLG-QNV/RSDG, KR-CV command. We also learned that he was designated as the finance/economic officer of the Central Front and Secretary of SPP-GANI, Southern Front,” Caramat said.
Pending the return of the warrant to the issuing court, the accused remains in the custody of the Diffun Municipal Police Station in the province of Quirino.
