BRP Lake Caliraya’s tow lines snapped due to strong waves, causing it to drift, the PCG said.

As of press time, the PCG Station Bataan is conducting a rescue operation for the three crew.

The PCG meanwhile said it is still determining if the incident will affect the upcoming Sinking Exercise (SINKEX) of the Philippine and US marines in the area.

Rear Admiral Armand Balilo said that the ship will be the target of the SINKEX.

Furthermore, the PCG Station in Bataan, in a recent update said it is now coordinating with the tugboat in charge for the immediate pull out of the decommissioned navy ship.
