In a statement, the Office of the Speaker and Tingog said that the financial assistance given to the students will help them continue their studies and lessen the number of students in the region that are forced to take gap years due to financial constraints.

In her message, Tingog Rep. Yedda Marie K. Romualdez emphasized that the program is not only meant to give financial aid, but also serve as an encouragement to the youth, that they are not alone in their struggle to success.

The lawmaker pointed out that “education is a powerful tool that is essential to empower those who are marginalized and underprivileged,” and that Tingog and House Speaker Martin Romualdez’s goal has always been to ensure that the plight of the youth of Eastern Visayas will not go unheard in the national arena.”

The Speaker, for his part, vowed to extend the much-needed assistance to as many Filipinos as it can.
