About one in five households in the Philippines owns at least one land apart from the one they have or occupy, the Philippine Statistics Authority said Wednesday.
It said that based on the 2020 Census of Population and Housing, about 5.32 million households or 20.2 percent of the total 26.6 million households in the country reported that they own other land/s.
The PSA said 3.54 million or 13.4 percent reported to own agricultural land/s and 2.87 million or 10.9 percent, other residential land/s. Households that acquired agricultural land/s through the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program as agrarian reform beneficiaries numbered 328,721 or 1.3 percent.
Among the 17 administrative regions, Cordillera Administrative Region had the highest proportion of households with at least one type of land they owned other than the land they occupy, with 47.7 percent or 209,470 households.
It was followed by Region II – Cagayan Valley with 36.3 percent or 329,684 households, and the Region XII – SOCCSKSARGEN with 34.5 percent or 367,443 households.
The National Capital Region had the lowest proportion of households with at least one type of land they owned other than the land they occupy at 8.2 percent or 287,297 households.
