In a bold and empowering move, Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Marquez Dee came out as bisexual in the latest cover of Mega Magazine, where she shared more about her sexuality in the interview.
In a revealing interview, she shared more about her sexuality and expressed her admiration for beauty in all its diverse forms.
Michelle, an actress and daughter of former beauty queen Melanie Marquez, has embraced her bisexuality for as long as she can remember. She spoke openly about her attraction to all types of beauty, regardless of shape or size, reaffirming her identification as bisexual.
Growing up in a world of beauty pageants and surrounded by diverse individuals, Michelle learned to appreciate the beauty in everyone. Consequently, she never felt the need to “come out” to those who mattered most in her life.
The newly crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2023 also said she has long been a staunch advocate and ally of the LGBTQIA+ community.
By gracing the cover of the magazine, Michelle took the opportunity to come forward and get ahead of malicious rumors.
“When somebody takes away your story, then you should take control of that narrative. Turn it around and make it an empowering story. So that’s what I’m doing,” she said.
Michelle will represent the Philippines at the 2023 Miss Universe pageant to be held in El Salvador later this year.
