CALAMBA CITY – Over P4.9 million worth of shabu was seized in a series of buy-bust operations in Laguna this weekend.
According to Laguna Provincial Director PCol. Randy Glenn Silvio, authorities also arrested six high-value individuals on the Philippine National Police drug watchlist during the operations.
The first arrest was made during a buy-bust operation by the Calamba City police in Barangay Halang, where a certain Alias Jayson, a resident of Marikina City, was apprehended.
Four sachets containing 53.75 grams of suspected illegal drugs, valued at P365,500, were recovered.
The next arrests were made during a joint buy-bust operation by the Calamba City Police and the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) at a bus terminal in Barangay Turbina, Calamba on Saturday evening.
The suspects, identified as alias “Roni” and alias “Christian,” both residents of Marikina City, were apprehended.
Eight sachets containing 405 grams of suspected illegal drugs, valued at around P2.754 million, were confiscated.
On Sunday evening and Monday dawn, authorities seized around 250 grams of suspected illegal drugs, estimated at P1,847,700, in two separate buy-busts in San Pedro City and Cabuyao City.
In San Pedro, alias “Roderick” was arrested during the operation in Barangay Landayan at around 9:29 p.m. on Sunday.
A total of 50.4 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of P347,700, were seized.
In Cabuyao City, two high-value individuals, alias “Bacolod” and alias “Abbas,” were arrested during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Banlic at around 12:55 AM on Monday. Approximately 200 grams of suspected shabu, with a street value of P1.5 million, were recovered from the suspects.
Overall, a total of P4,967,200 worth of illegal drugs were confiscated in the four operations.
The arrested suspects are facing charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
During his assumption of office and as directed during the series of his “Talk to Men” on various command visits, newly-installed PRO CALABARZON Regional Director Brig. Gen. Carlito Gaces ordered all units to intensify their illegal drugs campaign.
