Winner takes all in Altas-Red Spikers showdown

The defending champions Perpetual Altas Spikers and San Beda U Red Spikers square off for the NCAA Season 98 men’s crown in their confrontation in the winner-take-all Game 3 finals ton Sunday at the FilOil EcoOil Center in Barangay Corazon de Jesus.

The players of multi-titled Coach Sinfronio ‘Sammy” Acaylar will try to bring home to Las Piñas the crown they failed to seal on Friday, when SBU won Game 2, 17-25, 25-27, 25-22, 25 -23, 15-11, and snapped Perpetual’s 32-game winning streak.

The win sent the series to a rubber match. The Red Spikers overcame season MVP Louie Ramirez’s 32-point explosion to hand the three-peat seeking Altas their first loss since Feb. 16, 2018.

Reigning Season 98 Most Valuable Player (MVP) Loiue Ramirez will try to carry the Altas to a 13th men’s title overall in 38 years in the league.

Before this, Mary Rhose Dapol was named Season MVP and 1st Best outside spiker of women’s volleyball, while Marian Tracy Andal bagged the Best Libero trophy; Trece Martires City native Shaila Omipon was named Rookie of the Year awardee, while Joshua Zareño was awarded Best opposite spiker in the men’s division.

Perpetual Altas got Game One on April 11 via straight set, 25-20, 25-16, 25-22.
