Senators Alan, Pia share what they’ve learned from ‘CIA with BA’ Palm Sunday episode

Sibling Senators Alan and Pia Cayetano, together with Boy Abunda, took on two issues tackling rental fees in the Palm Sunday episode of CIA with BA.

On Sunday, April 2, a lady landlord complained about her tenants, who happen to be her relatives, for delayed rental fees and unpaid electricity bills.

Another case the Cayetanos resolved involved a tenant who could not claim her belongings from her landlord due to debt amounting to a rental fee of eight months.

Viewers surely learned from both cases, as house rental is very common in the Philippines.

For Senator Alan, his takeaway is that: “Kapag hindi pala nauna ‘yung galit at saka ‘yung mga salita na mahirap bawiin, one minute, kayang i-solve ang problema. Napakaraming problema sa mundo at talagang pinapasa-Diyos natin sana, pero [minsan may mga] masamang salita, galit, angal, and we’re all guilty of that, pero nakita natin ‘yung mga may problema [sa episode na ‘to], nauna ‘yung magagandang salita, nauna ‘yung openness.. ‘Yon! One minute, 60 seconds.. tapos [ang problema].”

“What we try to bring [here] is the human dimension. Hindi ‘to nakabayad, hindi natin ito tinuturing na ‘ah, masama kang tao, hindi ka nagbayad.’ Eto naman, sumingil, ‘ah napakasama mong tao, sinisingil mo ‘yung walang-wala na.’ Iniintindi natin na pare-pareho tayong may mga karapatan, pare-parehong mga sirkumstansya sa buhay na siguro nakagipit sa atin.. that’s we’re trying to do,” Senator Pia said.

Meanwhile, this coming Easter Sunday, April 9, viewers will get to rewatch episode four of CIA with BA, featuring issues about parents’ rights on their children.

CIA with BA, which aired its pilot episode on February 5, marks Senator Alan Peter and Senator Pia’s debut outing as on-air legal advisers. Future shows—airing Sundays at 11:30 p.m. on GMA 7 – will help viewers learn more about the country’s laws and how they affect their daily lives.

The sibling senators carry on the legacy of their late father and original Compañero of the airwaves Senator Rene Cayetano, who led and co-hosted the popular legal advice program Compañero y Compañera on radio and television from 1997 to 2001.
