In an Instagram post, Megastar Sharon Cuneta insinuated that she’s currently open to the possibility to work for other TV networks.
It can be remembered that she went back to ABS-CBN in 2015 after her four-year stint with TV 5. Since she came back to the Kapamilya, she was able to do five shows with them. However, the management has no clear offer to her at this point.
“For the first time in all these decades, I don’t have a long-term contract with my station. I know it is a number of things that have caused this. First, we lost our franchise, then, the station has way too many stars now and we of the ‘old guard’ have to give way,” avers Shawie.
Due to this development, the Megastar now considers herself a freelance talent.
“So while I will always be there when ABS needs me and will always be grateful, I guess it is understandable that I for now consider myself a free agent. It’s time I open myself up to other stations that may need my services, while always keeping my Kapamilya ‘duties,’ if and when they come. As they say, one goes only where one is needed!”
Sharon reveals though that she hasn’t talked to any stations yet. And despite her present disposition, the award-winning actress-singer maintains that she still loves her former home studio.
“I love ABS! I have been and will always be a Kapamilya. My memory and loyalty are unquestionable. But a girl’s going to work where she can and where she’s wanted,” she points out.
Mega’s last project for the Kapamilya was FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano topbilled by Coco Martin. Prior to this, she also headlined her own musical-variety show The Sharon Cuneta Show, the talk show Sharon, and the reality programs Starpower, The Biggest Loser, The Voice Kids, The Voice Teens, and Your Face Sounds Familiar.

At long last, Mel Martinez plays lead in the horror-comedy vehicle D’ Aswang Slayerz under Amartha Entertainment Production. Honestly, does he feel it’s long overdue considering that he’s been in the business for a considerable length of time already?
“No, I don’t feel that way. For one, I’m the type who will accept projects which I like. As the old saying goes, there are no small roles, only small actors. Whether it’s a big or small part, I always deliver my best. Work for me is precious,” he states.
In most of his memorable supporting parts, he always breathes life to the confidante of the female lead.
“For the longest time, I’m always the best friend, as in the BFF. But there are also times when I play the lead like in GMA’s Wish Ko Lang. For me, it’s all the same, as long as it’s work.”
Is there pressure on his part when it comes to the movie’s box-office performance being the lead star?
“Well, there is. I guess, it’s inevitable. But the good thing is I’m confident with our offering. If the material is good, for sure, movie buffs will support it, right?” says Mel.
