There’s more to baking than just being a process of producing goods. It’s also an enduring industry that also became a hobby for enthusiasts. Whether through consumption or participation, people celebrate the wonders of baking however they can.

FCBAI promises new technology and surprises in Bakery Fair 2023

In the meantime, Filipinos can enjoy the return of the highly-anticipated Bakery Fair this coming March 2 to 4 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City after the global pandemic. It also signals the revival of the Philippine baking industry.

Spearheading the event is the Filipino Chinese Bakery Association, Inc. (FCBAI), led by its president, Gerik Chua.

“We would like to invite everyone to come and celebrate the Bakery Fair 2023 with us. This is the first time in four years na mayroong ganitong face-to-face activity,” Chua said during a press conference at Oriental Palace Restaurant in Quezon City.

The Bakery Fair is FCBAI’s biennial, meaning it occurs every two years, civic project to promote and uplift the Philippines bakery industry and support socio-economic development.

“Ginagawa namin ‘tong activity na ‘to para ma-introduce sa public ‘yung mga bagong technologies, mga new trends in baking, paano kayo mas makakatipid kung gusto niyo magtayo ng bakery,” Chua added.

Among the highlights of the event is how bakers can prolong their products’ shelf lives without using preservatives. Moreover, 136 exhibitors will cover 10,000 square meters of the venue, ensuring something for everyone.

The baking industry is among the most lucrative industries in the country

For three days, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., several exhibitors will conduct technical presentations and actual demonstrations in the lobby and Mezzanine Area (second floor). Besides local experts, Chua shared that the FCBAI invited foreign instructors to the Bakery Fair 2023 to share their knowledge with the attendees. The topics will tackle baking and more, including operations for business management.

Since the Bakery Fair 2023 commemorates the exhibition, the FCBAI made sure to bring back favorite segments or start new ones to delight their attendees.

One of the exciting events of Bakery Fair 2023 is the FCBAI Bakers Cup Wedding Cake Competition 2023, which also returns after the pandemic. It will showcase exciting and imaginative wedding cake creations that follow the “Kasalang Pinoy” theme.

Bakers can use fondant, royal icing, gum paste, and other innovations to make their pieces stand out. The winner will have a chance to receive P80,000 as their prize.

Another event in the Bakery Fair 2023 is “Angel Cup 2023.” The Angel Cup-Bread Display Competition highlights the making of Bread Showpiece, Artisan Bread, Healthy Bread, and Sweet Dough with dough filling.

“Makakakita kayo ng bread sculptures na idi-display natin doon,” Chua said.

Besides the schedule of events, the Bakery Fair 2023 also invites celebrities to attend the occasion. Although the FCBAI has yet to release the official list of personalities attending the Bakery Fair 2023, they promise a star-studded experience as experts and enthusiasts congregate for their love for baking.
