After falling into a coma for five days, renowned Filipino singer and actor Jovit Baldivino passed away at 29 today at 4:00 a.m.
His family issued an official statement, announced by ABS-CBN reporter MJ Felipe on Twitter.
Jovit’s parents, Hilario and Cristeta Baldivino, with his fiancée, Camille Ann Miguel, said that the singer was recuperating with hypertension maintenance medicines. He was recovering for a week before a family friend from Batangas City invited him.
The singer received strict doctor’s orders not to sing during his recovery, but “Knowing “Bundoy” (Jovit), he gave in to [the] clamor of the crowd,” Felipe posted.
He sang three signature songs, including “Faithfully” by Journey, which brought him international recognition. But he began gasping for breath on the third song. After an hour while sitting, Jovit’s face became “deformed with flowing salivas.”
Felipe’s post added that the Pilipinas Got Talent grand champion was rushed to the emergency room at Nazareth of Jesus Hospital last December 3, Saturday, around 10:00 p.m. CT scan results showed a blood clot in Jovit’s brain, a sign of an aneurysm.
Doctors suctioned 100cc of blood at 2:00 a.m. on December 4, Sunday. Thus began his five-day coma before his passion.
Jovit’s family is still aghast at the situation. Meanwhile, his fans and other personalities from the music and entertainment industries are mourning his loss and offering their condolences.
