DAVAO CITY—AirAsia Philippines ramped up its flights to Davao from Manila and Cebu to support the recovery of local tourism.
“AirAsia Philippines is now strategically boosting its inter-island route network to support the resumption of economies in different megacities and provinces,” AirAsia Philippines spokesperson Steve Dailisan said.
“More than giving tourists an alternative mode of transportation, AirAsia Philippines would also like to support trade organizations as they slowly recover and restore their operations,” he said.
AirAsia Philippines launched on Aug. 18 its four-times weekly flights to Davao from Cebu, with plans of increasing to seven-times weekly by September.
Manila-Davao flights will also be increased from 21 times to 28 times weekly next month, the airline said.
Dailisan said that after two years of hiatus amid the global pandemic, AirAsia Philippines again joined the colorful and festive 37th Kadayawan sa Davao.
“AirAsia pays tribute to this much-awaited festive celebration with our Dabawenyo friends. After two years spent in isolation, we are one with Davao in shouting through the skies: We are back. We are here. And we are stronger than ever as we win as one,” Dailisan said.
The local government of Davao City decided to open this year’s Kadayawan Festival in public places to boost economic activity as it expects 50,000 local and foreign guests to attend the weeklong activities.
The 2019 Kadayawan attendees reached 250,000 local and international tourists.
Dailisan said passengers flying in and out of Davao City could enjoy AirAsia Philippines’ flash sale happening on Aug. 22 to 28. Passengers may avail of the P88 one way base fare from Manila to any domestic destination and P788 one way base fare to any international destination for travel from
Sept. 1, 2022 to March 25, 2023.
