Union Bank of the Philippines clarified on Friday that its digital lending arm UnionDigital will be launched later this year and not this month, as earlier mentioned by one of its officials in an online briefing Tuesday.
“This is in relation to the article titled, ‘UnionBank launching digital lending subsidiary next month,’ published last June 28, 2022 in Manila Standard, Business section…,” it said in an email.
“We would like to clarify a recent statement made regarding the launch of UnionDigital. We are ensuring an amazing experience for our customers with ongoing due diligence. UnionDigital is targeted to launch in the 3rd or 4th quarter of this year. We will keep you posted as soon as we have more news to share. Stay tuned,” it said.
UnionBank Fintech Group head Erika Dizon earlier said the launch is set in “July 2022,” a year after securing a license to operate from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
