The Anti-Money Laundering Council, composed of (from left) Insurance Commissioner Dennis Funa, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Benjamin Diokno and Securities and Exchange Commission chairman Emilio Aquino, holds its last monthly meeting prior to Diokno’s exit from the BSP. Diokno is set to assume his new post as secretary of Finance on July 1. Under the chairmanship of Diokno, the AMLC initiated much-needed reforms especially those covering the country’s compliance with international standards. The longest member of the AMLC is Funa who has been with the council since the time of BSP Governor Amando Tetangco and Gov. Nestor Espenilla.
