Mayor Binay asks residents to vote straight

Reelectionist Makati City Mayor Abigail Binay and her team made their final campaign rally Friday night at Lawton Avenue with thousands of city residents in attendance.

Joining her onstage in the miting de avance were runningmate Vice Mayor Monique Lagdameo, likewise a reelectionist, incumbent Representatives Romulo Peña, Jr. (1st District) and Luis Campos (2nd District), and all 16 candidates for city councilor from both districts.

In her speech, Mayor Binay reiterated her appeal to residents to support and vote straight for her team on Monday, election day.

Binay, who is running for her third and final term as local chief executive of the country’s financial center, underscored the importance of the full support of the local legislative body to the unimpeded progress of the city.

She promised to pursue more groundbreaking innovations that would further improve the quality of life in Makati and build an inclusive and sustainable future for the benefit of all “Makatizens.”

The city chief executive also urged her constituents to vote for her father, former Vice President, and senatorial candidate Jejomar Binay.

The MUP line-up of candidates for the city council in the first district consisted of re-electionists Virgilio “Jhong” Hilario, Luis “Jojo” Javier, Armando “Armand” Padilla, Rene Andrei “Rebo” Saguisag, Jose “Joey” Villena, Martin Arenas, and Anna Alcina “Alcine” Yabut, together with Carmina Ortega.

For the second district, running for City Councilor are re-electionists Dennis “Alden” Almario, Maria Dolores “Doris” Arayon, Benedict “Bodik” Baniqued, Arnold “Sammy” Cruz, and Kristina “Ina” Sarosa, together with Joel “Bong” Ariones, Edralyn “Ed” Marquez, and Ryan Soler Calimbahin.

Some of the accomplishments under the administration of Mayor Abby Binay include the pioneering PPP-led initiatives like Makatizen Card, Makati Subway, and Makati Life Medical Center. The all-purpose government ID facilitated the contactless distribution of cash aid to residents during lockdowns, while the subway and the state-of-the-art hospital will promote inclusive growth and a better quality of life.

The city’s transition to the new normal was also being boosted by the recent completion of community complexes in seven barangays for recreational activities, and the ongoing distribution of new shoes, uniforms, bags, and other school gear to public school students who were getting ready for face-to-face classes.
