Giant welcome

Giant images or Higantes from the province of Angono in Rizal welcome the foreign delegates on the second day of the World Travel and Tourism Council Global Summit on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at the Marriott Hotel.

Higantes Festival is a secular celebration initiated by the Municipality of Angono to express gratitude to its patron Saint Clement. Based on Angono’s folklore, the ‘higante’ was used as a symbol of farmers’ protest during the waning years of the Spanish colonization when Angono was a hacienda (large tract of lands).
