The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said it will introduce changes in the format of its second presidential debate.
The next Comelec is scheduled this weekend. In an ABS-CBN report, Comelec Commissioner George Garcia said with the new changes, viewers can “expect more clash of wits and the passions will be high” among candidates.
The first presidential and vice presidential debate was held on March 19 and 20 and the discussion centered around COVID-19 and the economy.
Garcia said one of the changes is that more media personnel would be allowed inside the venue for the upcoming debate.
The first presidential and vice presidential debate, held on March 19 and 20, focused on COVID-19 and the economy.
In the previous debate, candidates were given 90 seconds for their preliminary statements, 30
seconds for rebuttals, and 30 seconds for rejoinders. The candidates also drew lots to determine who would answer first, and after the first candidate answered, the rest followed in alphabetical order.
Held at the Sofitel Manila in Pasay, the first presidential debates lasted for around 2 and a half hours.
Former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. was the only presidential candidate who was absent in the first Comelec debate.
