Hotel in Quezon City.

The ruling party of Duterte together with its aspiring senatorial bets has announced its support to Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and presidential daughter Sara Duterte as its only presidential and vice-presidential candidates, respectively, during the party’s news conference last Tuesday at the B Hotel in Quezon City.

“We are calling for national unity to help the frontliners around the country and we’re thankful that we got the all-out support of the PDP-Laban,” Frontliners Ang Bida Partylist first nominee Jayke Joson said. “There’s no hatred here, but we believe the platforms of PDP is not only good for the frontliners but also for the whole country.”

The fight against corruption; eradication of poverty; advancement of peace and order; ending the pandemic; defeating communist terrorism; sustaining economic growth; strengthening national defense and foreign relations; generation of jobs; educational reforms; decentralization and local government empowerment; and charter change and federalism are well-implemented under the current Duterte administration through six years of good governance, Joson said.

These agenda must be sustained to help the police, soldiers, nurses, medical staff, doctors, barangay workers, food delivery boys, and other frontliners, who are praying for double hazard pay, tax-free allowances, free insurance policies, and the abolition of the no-pay, no-work policy for sick frontliners.

“Frontliners are part of that 11-point agenda implemented by the Duterte administration especially when the COVID-19 pandemic started to wreak havoc two years ago. Now, we want continuity and improvement for our frontliners, that’s why we’re thankful for PDP’s support and being part of its progressive plans,” Joson added.

PDP senatorial candidates Rey Langit, Robin Padilla, Astra Pimentel, Rodante Marcoleta, and Salvador Panelo, and Olongapo City aspiring Mayor Arnold Vegafria were also in attendance during PDP’s proclamation of Marcos Jr. as its president.
