Aksyon Demokratiko standard-bearer and Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso expressed confidence that he will win the May 9 presidential race, saying the “silent majority” will be the game changer in his quest to become the next president of the country.

Domagoso said this when asked by the media if he and his campaign team remain unfazed over former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s high numbers in presidential surveys.

“Why should I [be affected?] I am encouraged because people, the silent majority, came out of their house just to see us—in the middle of the day,” he said.

“That’s the kind of courage I have now,” Domagoso added shortly before the start of Team Isko’s motorcade at Isla Puting Bato which serves as the boundary between Tondo, Manila, and Navotas City.

Asked for comment on the decision of the Commission on Elections’ First Division to junk the disqualification cases against former senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr., he said: “Good for him. Remember we are not enemies—we are just competing with each other.”

“Our real enemy is the one that oppresses the people – this pandemic. That is the real enemy of all of us, and that is what I am fighting for and I can only overcome that if I can be with the Filipino people,” he said.

If elected president, Moreno said he will address the perennial problems of poverty, hunger, unemployment, inequality, and social injustice in the country by focusing on providing the minimum basic needs of the people—housing, education, health care, and jobs—through the efficient and prudent management of government resources. These form the main pillars of his 10-Point Bilis Kilos Economic Agenda.
