To move up in the rankings is one of Jeremy Miado’s goals when he confronts Japanese fighter Senzo Ikeda in one of ONE Championship’s first offerings for the year.
Miado is looking forward to having more challenging fights once he’s done with Ikeda in their confrontation at ONE: HEAVY HITTERS on Jan. 14 in Singapore.
Miado is one of two Filipino fighters in the fight card, the other being Robin Catalan.
“Kung mananalo ako kay Senzo, sa tingin ko ay mabibigyan ako ng chance na makalaban iyung mga nasa Top 5,” said the 29-year-old Miado, who concluded his last day of practice on Saturday.
There are five choices waiting for Miado if he hurdles Ikeda when he improves on his 10-4 record.
And his foes could be top five bets in the strawweight division in Bokang Masunyane, Yosuke Saruta, Jarred Brooks, Hiroba Minowa and Alex Silva.
To prepare against Ikeda, Miado trained with other Filipino fighters at the Marrok Force camp in Bangkok, Thailand.
This includes the Drex and his sister Denice Zamboanga.
“Tulungan kami ng mga Pinoy dito. Kung may laban, nagtutulungan kami dito,” said Miado, who is coming off back-to-back knockout wins over Miao Li Tao in 2019 and 2021.
And he has gained his confidence from those twin victories.
“Lumalakas na ang loob ko. Alam kong magka-rank na ako sa mga laban at panalo,” added Miado.
