‘More vaccines bought from Western countries’

The Philippines purchased more vaccines developed by Western countries than those developed in China for the country’s vaccination program against COVID-19

National Task Force Against COVID-19 medical adviser Dr. Ted Herbosa also said the country bought more Moderna and AstraZeneca than the China-made Sinovac.

He also said those who are claiming that the government purchased more Sinovac vaccines might have gotten the wrong information or data.

In a radio interview, he said “they have the wrong data. We bought 40 million doses of Pfizer, 20 million doses from Moderna, and 17 million AstraZeneca. We bought more Western vaccines than Chinese-made vaccines.”

On the government’s target of reaching 54 million fully-vaccinated Filipinos,

Herbosa said the government is raising vaccination outputs in the bigger regions of the country to achieve this target.

Reports earlier said the government temporarily stopped its vaccination drive from December 24 to December 26 to allow health workers vaccinators to have a holiday break.
