Typhoon Odette (international name: Rai), the strongest typhoon to hit the Philippines this year, slammed into the southern and central regions of the country, knocking out communications and electricity in many areas. Siargao Island, Dinagat Island, Cebu, and Bohol islands were among the hard-hit areas.
