Dr. Cristina Salvosa, campus administrator officer-in-charge and project leader, said the NVSU Technopreneurs Hub was launched early in December last year to execute a Technology Business Incubator that would help start-up technology-based businesses by providing a range of resources, services, and facilities needed during their development stage.

“The goal of the TBI is to produce firms that will leave the incubation program financially viable and able to sustain operation and compete in the market,” she said.

Also dubbed NVSU ‘Sabatan’ (an Iluko term for meeting place), the hub is the first TBI in the province.

It was established under the Department of Science and Technology’s Higher Educational Institution Readiness for Innovation and Technopreneurship development program.

“It will serve as a venue for the transformation of bright ideas into viable business technologies and inputs,” Salvosa added.

Jonathan Nuestro, DOST provincial head, said the NVSU-TH helps address the current problems of micro-entrepreneurs in the province, particularly on expensive equipment and insufficient knowledge in running a business.

“Our micro-entrepreneurs will benefit from this project through the introduction of innovations and fabrications of imported equipment and tools, which will be offered at affordable prices for our budding entrepreneurs,” he added.

The technology innovations and fabrications were exhibited in Dec. 13 last year, during the “NVSU  PANAGSASABAT 2019: Stakeholders Forum and Exhibition on Innovation and Head Technopreneurship.”
