President Rodrigo Duterte condoles Sunday night with the Gokongwei family at the Heritage Memorial Park in Taguig City after the passing of their matriarch, Elizabeth Yu, a week after her business tycoon husband John Gokongwei Jr. passed away. Malacañang hailed the Gokongwei matriarch, who died aged 85, as the ‘other half who helped in realizing the vision and dream of one of the greatest business leaders of our time.’ Gokongwei’s JG Summit Holdings has expanded its business in transportation, food and beverage, retail, real estate, and banking among others. According to Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo, Elizabeth, who died Saturday, ‘supported’ the views of one of the country’s billionaires and businessmen.
