As the United Nations-backed International Lead Poisoning Prevention Week is observed on October 20 to 26, various groups recognize the efforts of the country’s paint industry to remove and replace toxic lead additives in paint formulations to protect public health, in line with DENR’s Chemical Control Order for Lead and Lead Compounds. An example is the success of Sycwin, a local paint manufacturer, to obtain third-party Lead Safe Paint Certification from SCS Global Services for all of its architectural and industrial paint brands, which it touts in a press conference in Quezon City.
