A leading provider of equestrian training, management, and competition services, EquestrianPH has forged a partnership with the country’s premier equestrian venue for the sponsorship of three showjumping competitions, a points system covering the results of which will determine an overall series champion and champions in each height category, namely, the 0.65m, 0.75m, 0.90m, 1.00m, 1.10m, and 1.20m categories.

“Series are very important in the development of our jumping riders, as you can create a progression of technical difficulty over a certain period that sees to their constant improvement as the challenges become greater, resulting in stronger, more competitive human and equine athletes as you go along,” said EquestrianPH president Carissa Coscolluela.

It is also the first time that series championship titles will be awarded per category.

“Definitely, we recognize those who excel at the top level, but as in any sport, you need to cultivate young or new talent, so you need to give them something realistic and reachable to work towards as they progress through the levels, offering well-earned rewards as the hit key achievements,” Coscolluela explained of the rationale behind the new format.

The first leg of the series is dubbed Spooky Spectacular, coinciding with the 5th Manila Polo Club Showjumping Competition on October 26.

The Halloween-themed event encourages riders to compete in costume, with prizes being awarded for best costumes as well as for the usual competition placings.

Riders placed first in their respective height classes will earn 10 points, those placed second will earn 6 points, and those placed third will earn 2 points.

The same points system will be applied at Ride for Life, the second leg of the series on November 16, a competition held for the benefit of the Philippine Red Cross.

The final leg, Oh What Fun It Is to Ride, will be on December 7, where points will carry a double coefficient.

The riders with the highest cumulative number of points per category at the end of the series will be named category champions, and a coefficient system that gives weight to classes with higher obstacle heights will determine the overall series champion.

Among the other series partners are JFJC Equestrian Training Services, Metro Society, and Metro.Style.
