Jose 'Joey' P. Leviste Jr. launched his fifth book entitled Lolo Cheng: Justice Jose Maria Valera Paredes on Oct. 4, at the Judiciary Memorabilia Hall of the Old Supreme Court Building in Manila. The guest-of-honor for the book launch was Supreme Court Chief Justice Lucas P. Bersamin, who also wrote the Foreword. With the author and the Chief Justice are CJ’s wife, Mrs. Aurora Bagares Bersamin and Atty. Jose D. Leviste III, who introduced his father. The event was attended by members of the Paredes clan and friends of the author many of whom are themselves legal luminaries. The book chronicles the inspiring story of Justice Jose Mari Paredes from his happy childhood in the province of Abra to his outstanding work in the Judiciary, all the way to the Supreme Court; from his valuable contributions to the framing of the 1971 Philippine Constitution to his leadership in various national organizations.
