Biñan City, Laguna—The city government has signed an agreement to host the football competitions of the 30th Southeast Asian Games at the Binan Football Stadium here.

Signing the memorandum on Monday were Mayor Walfredo “Arman” Dimaguila, Vice Mayor Angelo Alonte, and members of the City Council with SEA Games organizing committee member Tom Carrasco and Michael Verano, 30th SEAG cluster head.
The games will start on Nov. 30 and end Dec. 11, Carrasco said.
Department Heads, students, and various media partners also attended the press conference organized by the Mayor’s Office, City Information Office and Biñan City Culture, History, Arts and Tourism Office.
“This is another great opportunity to make our City of Biñan more recognizable and proud. We are lucky we will be given the chance to host the 30th SEA Games 2019 with this MOA submitted to me from the Vice Mayor’s Office,” Dimaguila said.
“You can be sure the event is in good hands, as we are particular in our peace and order preparations for this historic event in the city. Here in Binan City, ‘Ang Mamamayan ay Maasahan’ (citizens can be counted on),” the Mayor added.
The stadium has a 3,000 seating capacity, and will be protected by security forces with the help of the Philippine National Police City Marshal, Dimaguila said.
Police visibility will be enhanced for the safety of the participants, and the city government will provide free rides using more than 40 electric vehicles, he added.
Although the games will have a P50 entrance fee, the city government will shoulder the cost for all Binanenses, the mayor added. Roy Tomandao

“This is an investment of the LGU for sports, and we thank the mayor for this stadium. We need all the sports places we can build,” Carrasco said.
