Led by BDO Laoag-Balintawak branch head Marlane Manuel, the relief operation was supported by local government officials and concerned citizens.

The corporate citizenship initiative is in line with the disaster response advocacy of BDO Foundation and its commitment to serve people affected by natural disasters or armed conflict.

As a followup to its relief efforts, the foundation pursues long-term rehabilitation and reconstruction programs in affected communities.

Local government leaders placed Ilocos Norte under a state of calamity as Ineng, a severe tropical storm enhanced by the southwest monsoon, brought heavy rainfall, caused massive flooding and damaged infrastructure in the province.

A state of calamity was also declared in Laoag as floodwaters submerged the city and displaced thousands of residents.
