Salcedo Auctions founder and director Richie Lerma presents Félix Resurreccion Hidalgo’s masterpiece, “La Pintura,” the highlight of the Important Philippine Art sale in this year’s “The Well-Appointed Life” auction on Sept. 21-22 at the Rigodon Ballroom of The Peninsula Manila.
The painting, which depicts a woman standing in front of an unfinished painting was last seen in public at the Natural History and Ethnographic Exhibition at the Museo Arqueologico Nacional in Madrid in 1893.
In a statement on its Facebook page, Salcedo Auction says, “This artwork has clear and sterling provenance, having remained in the same family, the descendants of Don Jose Vazquez Castiñeira.
The Castiñeiras previously owned Juan Luna y Novicio’s “España y Filipinas” and “Boceto for Spoliarium.”
Auction preview is scheduled on Sept. 13-20 at the Upper Lobby of The Peninsula Manila. Call (02) 823-0956 or 0918-8846869 or email info@salcedoauctions.com for inquiries and more details.
