Quezon, Nueva Vizcaya—Workers of FCF Minerals Corp. here were recently trained on fire safety and emergency fire suppression to improve their fire fighting skills and fire prevention measures.
The fire safety and emergency fire drill training was offered by the Bureau of Fire Prevention here in collaboration with the mining firm’s Occupational Safety and Health Department as part of their Annual Safety and Health Program.
Ian Moller, FCF general manager for sustainability, said at least 35 workers at the FCF campsite along with contractors’ representatives completed the five-day training.
He said the training involves lectures on the elements of fire and measures to prevent it, including knowledge and skills to stop fires.
“The training lectures were reinforced by actual demonstrations and hands-on exercises by the participants. With this training therefore, we expect them to be more skilled towards preventing the incidence of fire and stop them from destroying lives and limbs,” Moller added.
The training, he said, will arm the company in its bid for a renewal of Fire Safety Inspection Certificate from the BFP.
