Lal-lo airport gets 1st commercial flights

Lal-lo, Cagayan—The Lal-lo Airport in this municipality has received its first international and domestic flights to and from Macau and Clark in an inaugural direct flight by Royal Air on Sunday.

Mayor Oliver Pascual and Undersecretary Raymundo Roquero, Cagayan Economic Zone Authority senior deputy administrator, led other local officials in welcoming Royal Air with a Ceremonial Water Canon salute on the aircraft.

Royal Air said it is expanding is operation in Northern Cagayan particularly Ceza and its surrounding municipalities because of the growing popularity of the ecozone’s business and leisure climate.

Ceza and the Lal-lo local government unit usherettes presented flowery leis to the arriving guests and visitors after they stepped off the plane.

Roquero said the inaugural included commercial international flights from Lal-lo to Macau and vice versa, and domestic flights from Clark to Lal-lo and vice versa.

Also, the carrier also flies from Cebu to Davao and Puerto Princesa cities four times weekly and to Cagayan de Oro City and Caticlan thrice a week.

“This development will surely make Lal-lo Airport as another gateway to Northern Cagayan and Ceza for tourism and leisure, business, investments and promotions,” he added.

With an estimated cost of P1.66 billion, the 15-hectare airport hub is the result of a 50-year joint venture agreement between Ceza and Cagayan Land Property Development Corp. with the private consortium contributing 58.3 percent in equity while Ceza’s share was 41.7 percent.

Roquero said the airport’s major facilities are the control tower, passengers’ lounge with a runway measuring 2,100 meters long by 45 meters wide. Following the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization.

He said this allows the airport to accommodate narrow-body commercial airlines such as Airbus A320 and Boeing 737.

In March 2018, Pai-Hao a CEZA locator using a Philippine registered Aircraft of the Royal Air Charter Service begun its chartered international flight operations. The scheduled flights of three times per week, route from Lal-lo via Tuguegarao to Macau Airport and vice versa.

In April 2018, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has approved the Permanent Aerodrome Registration for Lal-lo Airport with Certification number AGA-R-010-2018. 

The airport has been accredited by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and has assigned “RPLH” as the Airport’s location indicator and received an International Code Assignment of LLC (limited liability company) by its becoming a member of the International Air Transport Association.

In addition to Ceza’s Santa Ana and Aparri towns, other tourist destinations through Lal-lo Airport include the towns of Gonzaga, Santa Teresita, Buguey, Lal-lo, Pamplona, Baggao, Penablanca and Tuguegarao City.
