Paul Klein, frontman of the American indie-pop band Lany. The band staged a three-night concert at the Mall of Asia Arena in support of their sophomore album, 'Malibu Nights.'

Before coming to the Philippines, the band had already played 80 shows. The tour, which in support of its sophomore album, Malibu Nights, includes over 100 dates across North America, Europe, UK, South America, Australia, New Zealand, and Asia.

“Seriously, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for spending your hard-earned money and time, and for making sacrifices just to be here with us tonight,” frontman Paul Klein told the crowd on July 24, the concert’s second night at the Mall of Asia Arena.

“This would be so boring without you. Can we come back for the rest of our lives?” he asked, to which the crowd roared in ecstasy as their response, an easy sign that they want the band back for more shows.

Tickets to the concert went on sale on Feb. 21 and were immediately sold out, thus, the band decided to add more dates according to concert promoter MMI Live.

It wasn’t the first time that Lany had to change its schedule because of its Filipino fans. In December 2017, more tickets were released for its sold-out concert on April 5, 2018. But there was an overwhelming demand that the manager of the band had to announce the addition of another show in January 2018 to accommodate more fans.

Marking their fourth visit to the country, their Malibu Nights World Tour was described by Rolling Stone as “Enigmatic frontman Paul Jason Klein carried the sea of fans through his passionate delivery of the starry-eyed, gushy pop tracks, losing himself in smooth dance breaks… LANY’s star power was both out-of-this-world and incredibly effortless.”

Sophomore album Malibu Nights was released in October 2018 via Interscope Records and Angeles Times praised the record “a sleek and tender document of a thoroughly modern band hitting all the right references for 2018.” Malibu Nights is the follow up to the band’s 2017 self-titled debut album, which tied for the highest-charting debut album on the Billboard Top Rock Albums chart in 2017.
