When Paris meets New York

There is about 5,800-kilometer distance between Paris and New York—two cities that wear the “fashion capital” tag; both famed for their contributions to the industry, but each with distinct styles.

MADE FOR TRAVELING. Longchamp’s La Voyageuse, modeled after portable vanity cases, is a compact bag that comes in three travel-friendly styles, namely large tote (some are foldable), small tote, and crossbody bag.

Sophie Delafontaine, creative director of luxury leather goods label Longchamp, put to fore this distance and difference in their recent New York Fashion Week fall/winter 2019 collection presentation.

The theme was visualized with a runway inspired by Andrée Putman, a carpet Delafontaine designed for the Concorde and a 40-look collection that combined the distinct auras of these transatlantic cities.  The Parisian woman’s effortless femininity was realized in billowy silk dresses and pleated skirts in embroidered tulle or wool gauze. They were juxtaposed with crisp black leather tops and architectural coats made from graphic or Apaloosa prints indicative of New York’s urbanity.

The details, like grosgrain ribbons with vivid silver studs, also showcased a seamless blend of elegance and edgy. This melding of contrasts, the mixing and matching of textures, silhouettes, and patterns gives each look a sense of individuality and dynamism.

The dynamic style of two fashion capitals, were emphasized with a collection inspired by the free-spirited energy of travelers—women who, Longchamp says, roam the world with a rock ‘n roll attitude and a wardrobe to match.

With cosmopolitan travelers in mind, the highlight of Longchamp’s fall-winter 2019 collection is made for traveling.

La Voyageuse, modeled after portable vanity cases, is a compact bag that comes in three styles: a large tote (some can be folded, depending on material), a small tote, and a crossbody bag.

This season also marks the launch of Mini Le Pliage Cuir, the brand’s iconic Le Pliage scaled to a miniature size for the first time.

All bags come in a variety of colors and feature an array of fabrics—from crocodile-printed leather to leopard-printed calf hair to smooth leather embossed with the LGP logo.

Rounding up the collection are new designs of Amazone and Cavalcade, which come in shoulder bag, crossbody, and fanny pack.

Longchamp is at Rustan’s Makati, Rustan’s Shangri-La, Rustan’s Cebu, and Greenbelt 5.
