Sta. Rosa, Laguna—June marked the inauguration of Our Lady of Fatima University’s sixth campus in Barangay Macabling here, and classes began on July 1, letting aspiring Fatimanians enroll in the “Home of Topnotchers.”
From its humble beginnings of a hospital with 25 beds turned into a training center for nurses and midwives, Our Lady of Fatima College transitioned into a university in 2002 and has continued soaring since.
Rising like a phoenix reborn in the Lion City of the South, OLFU Laguna offers the following programs: Bachelor of Science degrees in Medical Laboratory Science, Pharmacy, Psychology, Computer Science, and International Tourism Management.
OLFU has been an advocate of quality education for a reasonable price. With its vision of “Improving Man as Man,” the system now grants Laguna accessible quality education. Just like how OLFU’s Valenzuela Campus is now one of the top universities in the Philippines, Executive Vice President Don Augustus O. Santos envisions that OLFU Laguna “will become autonomous as well.”
University President Dr. Caroline Marian S. Enriquez said the number of campuses that will be built for OLFU will match the number of the Santos siblings, which own the school system. The Santa Rosa campus is the sixth out of seven envisioned OLFU ampuses in the Philippines, she added.
Endless opportunities await students at the four-hectare Laguna campus. OLFU Santa Rosa’s first five-story building is filled with over 20 classrooms, the university library, and numerous laboratories (a mock hotel room, mock travel agency office, and science laboratories, among others) designed to give students first-hand experience of the future careers they would like to pursue.
With the remaining land surrounding the campus, five to six buildings are set to rise giving it endless opportunities. Since OLFU is known to establish a hospital alongside their campuses, university president Enriquez said: “Manufacturing (plant) or hospital…or both? Who knows?”
Its recent ingauration ended with EVP Santos’ message to all parents and students who will make OLFU Santa Rosa their school of choice: “We’re very happy and we’re looking forward to provide education and service that we’ve been giving to our students [in other campuses] for the past 50 years. We look forward to serving more of them (students) in Laguna. We promise to give our best.”
OLFU’s inaguration was graced by its college deans, campus administrators, and affiliates; the rest of the system’s University Administrators, namely Chair of the Board of Trustees Dr. Yvonne S. Guevara; Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Mylene S. Abad Santos; Board Member Enrico O. Santos; Director of Alumni Affairs Robert Bjorn O. Santos; and Fatima University Medical Center President Dr. Vicente O. Santos, Jr.
