Triathlon newcomers and multisport veterans test their all-out speed and bursts of power in the first-ever Vermosa Sports Hub Sprint Tri in Imus, Cavite on June 9.
Title sponsor Vermosa Sports Hub is also the venue of this mid-year sprint distance race on the Philippine triathlon calendar: a 500-meter swim in Vermosa’s FINA-standard Olympic-size pool, followed by 20 kms of cycling and 5 kms of running through the grounds and on the world-class 400-meter track oval for participants aged 15 and above.
The Vermosa Sports Hub Sprint Tri, organized by Bike King Philippines, also features age-appropriate, shorter distances for kids aged 7 to 14, guaranteeing a family-and-beginner-friendly experience.
At stake in the event supported by Blackmores Philippines, Smart, hydration partners Pocari Sweat and Sip Purified Water, and official timer Garmin are specially designed medals and gifts for winners in the age group and relay categories. The Vermosa Sports Hub Sprint Tri hosts an Event Expo onsite on race day, featuring gear and products from sponsors and multisport partners for spectators and supporters to check out.
The triathlon is the latest sports event to take place at the Vermosa Sports Hub, the nation’s first one-stop training complex catering to athletes competing in international sporting events and serious sports enthusiasts. It features a 50-meter swimming pool based on FINA (International Swimming Federation) standards and the country’s only International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF)-certified 400m track oval, a complete indoor training facility, and the 600-sq,m. Sante Fitness Lab, staffed by expert coaches, trainers, and visiting sports institutes.
VSH is an Ayala Land Development borne out of emerging trends: the rise in health consciousness and growing interest in multisport.
“People are spending more time and money to engage in physical activities, specifically sports,” said Ayala Land Vice President and Vermosa estate head Jay Teodoro. “We wanted to provide a venue for training for this market. Our bigger vision also is to provide a training venue for the next Philippine champion,” he adds.
The Vermosa Sports Hub Sprint Tri is part of the Vermosa Sports Hub Series and the Sun Life Aquathlon Series. By joining the races of each series, the top 20 finishers of the individual standard distance are awarded points and can vie for the honor of being named the top athlete of 2019 in their age group.
