The Philippine Life Insurance Association named Hans Loozekoot as the new president of the association.
Loozekoot is currently the president and chief executive of Troo, the life insurance joint venture of Ageas and EastWest Bank. He succeeds Dr. Olaf Kliesow, who will be moving to Munich, Germany for his new Allianz posting.
Almost 25 years ago, Loozekoot joined Ageas, a listed international insurance group with headquarters in Belgium. For the last 12 years, Hans Loozekoot has worked in Asia.
“Hans will bring his international experience to the PLIA,” said PLIA general manager George Mina.
Over the years, Loozekoot has held various senior management positions in the domains of sales, finance and strategy across different businesses of Ageas.
In 2007, he moved to Hong Kong as director of finance and reporting of Ageas in Asia. Two years later, he was assigned to India as chief financial officer of IDBI Federal Life Insurance.
After three years, he returned to Hong Kong to take up the posting as managing director for strategy and M&A and as a member of the management committee of Ageas Asia before coming to the Philippines in 2015.
“It’s an honor to be elected as president of PLIA,” Loozekoot said.
“I’m excited to work with other PLIA member companies, the Insurance Commissioner and other stakeholders to further strengthen the life insurance industry,” he said.
Loozekoot is a Dutch national and holds a degree in Economics. He is also a fellow of the Institute of Corporate Directors in the Philippines.
