Alaska goes for win No. 2 today, while three more teams report for duty in the early stages of the 2019 Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup.
After starting out with a bang, the Aces go for a second straight win when they battle with NorthPort at 4:30 p.m. at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City today.
In the succeeding game, NLEX and TNT KaTropa debut against each other at 7 p.m.
Led by fresh import Chris Daniels and the steady Chris Banchero, Alaska was able to hack out an opening-day victory over Columbian, 111-98, last Sunday for a good start.
“It’s always good to start off with the first win right away,” said Alaska coach Alex Compton. “We now need to keep the momentum and the good start.”
Daniels and Banchero showed that they can be a duo to reckon with. The reinforcement tallied 25 points and 16 rebounds in his debut, while Banchero had 20 in their rout of the Dyip.
Against the Batang Pier, the Aces will face another new import in Prince Ibeh, who is expected to complement the talents of NorthPort core Stanley Pringle, Sean Anthony and Mo Tautuua.
The Road Warriors and the Tropang Texters are likewise itching to have a good start.
Both teams will parade new names as reinforcement as well.
NLEX will have Curtis Washington, while TNT brings in a high-profile newbie in Terrence Jones, who has been an NBA veteran, most notably with the Houston Rockets alongside James Harden several seasons ago.
