The Department of Energy warned power generators it will not tolerate activities that amount to anti-competitive behaviour or non-compliance with the reportorial requirements during outages.
“Considering the strict mandate to ensure reliability, quality and security of supply of electric power under EPIRA (Electric Power Industry Reform Act of 2001), DoE shall not tolerate activities which amount to anti-competitive behavior or non-compliance with said law and its issuances,” the agency said in a directive to power generators.
The DoE issued the order in the wake of the yellow and red alerts and the power outages experienced by power consumers this month.
The directive ordered power generators to ensure regular operation of their respective power generating facilities.
“In case of unexpected shutdown or derating of the generating facility… power generator shall within 24 hours from actual outage submit a report to the DOE,” it said.
